About the Authors

Dr. Khalidah Khalid Ali

Dr. Khalidah Khalid Ali is a retired senior lecturer at the Department of Management and Humanities, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Bandar Seri Iskandar, Perak D.R., Malaysia and currently a freelance consultant, trainer and keen writer. She also lectures on part-time basis to UTP undergraduate students on Ethics and Integrity, while involving in research and publication works. She has 17 years of industrial experience at PETRONAS Group of Companies, i.e., in general administration, human resource management and downstream retail sales prior to joining academia, and has served for 24 years as an academician. Khalidah holds a bachelorʼs degree in Analytical Economics with honours from the University of Malaya (1979), a Master of Science in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management from the University of London (London School of Economics and Political Science, 1983) and PhD in Social Science and Humanities from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (2019). As an academic, she has taught Malaysian Studies, Principles of Economics, Malaysian Economy, Business Management, Introduction to Management, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship and Ethics and Social Responsibility at UTP and the Open University Malaysia.

Her research interests include interdisciplinary social science, cultural studies, and value-based studies related to ethics in a diverse and competitive global environment. Khalidah has provided research and consultancy services in business organization, marketing and ethics and has been a trainer in the related areas. She has also been a journal paper reviewer in management, economics and ethics disciplines. Khalidah is the main author of textbooks “Business Management - A Malaysian Perspective” 1e (2008) to 4e (2019), Business Ethics 1e (2014) and 2e (2018), published by Oxford Fajar Publishing for Malaysian and ASEAN higher learning institutions. She is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM), ResearchGate, PETRONAS Alumni, UTP Alumni, and Kolej Tunku Kurshiah Old Girls’ Association (TKCOGA). Dr. Satirenjit Kaur Johl

Dr. Satirenjit Kaur Johl CMgr FCMI, serves as an Associate Professor at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, where she currently chairs the Management and Humanities Department. Dr. Johl earned her Doctorate in Philosophy (Business) from the University of Nottingham, U.K., and a Master’s in Management Science from Universiti Utara Malaysia. She is also a Chartered Manager (Fellow) with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and holds certifications as a trainer from both the Institute of Personnel and Development, U.K., and HRDF Malaysia. Her expertise extends beyond academia; Dr. Johl actively engages in training and consultancy projects for PETRONAS and various multinational energy companies. She supervises Ph.D. and Masterʼs students in Strategic Management, Sustainability, Entrepreneurship, and Corporate Governance, guiding the next generation of scholars and practitioners in these fields.

Dr. Johlʼs commitment to research is reflected in her extensive publication record, comprising books and journal papers in esteemed international journals, covering topics such as strategic management, sustainability, corporate governance, and entrepreneurship. Her contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Best Dissertation accolade from British Aerospace and Loughborough University, U.K., and the Hariram Jayaran Special Award and Gold Award at the 23rd International Invention Innovation & Technology Exhibition. In her most recent achievements, Dr. Johl received the Best Journal Publication Award from UTP and the Silver Award for her innovative ecoDRIVEx project, which drives firms towards intelligent eco-solutions. This project garnered recognition at the SDG International Innovation Awards 2022 Malaysian Technology EXPO (MTE), showcasing Dr. Johlʼs dedication to impactful research and sustainable practices.

Dr. Lai Fong Woon

Dr. Lai Fong Woon CMgr FCMI is an Associate Professor at the Management and Humanities Department, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. He served as the Department Chair from 2019 to 2024. He is a Chartered Manager (Fellow) with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), UK. Dr Lai holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Finance) and a Master of Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA. He obtained his PhD (in Enterprise Risk Management) from University of Malaya, the oldest university in Malaysia. Dr. Lai has been teaching in higher education institutions since 1998.

Prior to joining the academia, he had worked in two stock broking companies in Malaysia. He held an Investment Advisor’s Representative License issued by the Malaysian Securities Commission (SC) in 1997. He was also an external writer for licensing examinations conducted by the SC. Dr. Lai has co-authored management books, published in indexed journals and presented his research papers in local and international conferences in the areas of sustainability management, risk management, corporate finance, strategy and socio-economic analysis. Dr Lai is an active researcher and continuous professional development courses trainer. Dr. Lai’s present and past professional body memberships include the Academy of Risk Management Malaysia, Malaysian Association of Risk and Insurance Management, Malaysian Institute of Management, Professional Risk Managers International Association as well as Australasian Institute of Banking and Finance.

Dr. Rohani Salleh

Dr. Rohani Salleh holds the positions of Senior Lecturer and Leader for the Postgraduate Program at the Department of Management and Humanities at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. Additionally, she serves as the Pillar Leader for University Social Responsibility (Socioeconomic) and a research member at the Centre of Social Innovation (COSI) and the Institute of Smart and Sustainability. Her academic credentials include a PhD in Human Resource Management from the University of Leeds, UK, a Master’s degree from the University of Hull, UK, and a Degree in Management from Universiti Sains Malaysia.

Dr. Rohani is recognized as a certified Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) trainer and has conducted training sessions on Effective Thought Structuring (ETS) and Conducting Literature Review tailored for PETRONAS employees. Furthermore, she is a Fellow at the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI), an associate member of the Malaysia Institute of Human Resource Management (MiHRM), and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM).

In 2018, Dr. Rohani completed an industrial attachment at TNB Research Bangi, where she spearheaded organizational improvement initiatives focused on HRM practices and organizational culture. Her efforts at TNBR assisted to the development of a sustainable HRM ecosystem and the establishment of a cultural framework designed to help TNBR achieve its strategic mission. Dr. Rohani is also actively involved in entrepreneurship sustainability programs which encompass a structured framework from training delivery to impact analysis. She has also participated in many CSR projects aimed at enhancing community well-being and economic sustainability.

Her expertise extends to research and consultancy endeavors for a diverse array of organizations, including PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad, TNB Janamanjung, PETRONAS Refinery (Melaka), PETRONAS Carigali, INSTEP, TNB Research, UMP Advanced, PETRONAS Change Management Unit, PD&T, PETRONAS HSE, UNITEN-TNB, and the Perak State Government. Her research focuses primarily on Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, and Socioeconomic Impact, which is underscored by her successful acquisition of over 10 research grants and consultancy projects from national and international funding bodies. Dr. Rohaniʼs scholarly contributions are noteworthy, evident in her publication record of over 100 papers in local and international refereed journals and conference proceedings. Additionally, she has co-authored books such as “Business Management: A Malaysian Perspective” and “Digitalization in Human Resource Management Functions”. Her contributions have been recognized with prestigious accolades such as the Emerald Literati Award for Outstanding Paper in 2018 and the Excellent Paper Award (Business Category) at iCBST2014, HatYai, Thailand. Notably, her dedication to sustainability leadership was acknowledged with the Malaysia GPM Sustainability Award (Sustainability Leadership Category) in 2022.

Dr. Yusniza Kamarulzaman

Dr. Yusniza Kamarulzaman is a Professor of Marketing and the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, and the Graduate School of Business, Universiti Malaya (UMGSB). Her current pursuits include serving as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Glasgow in the UK and a Visiting Professor at Universitas Indonesia, highlighting her vast knowledge and global recognition in marketing.

With an illustrious career spanning over two decades, Professor Yusniza has held several leadership positions at the Universiti Malaya. She served as the Deputy Dean of Postgraduate from 2017 to 2022, the Head of the Marketing Department from 2015 to 2017, and the Director of the UM Centre of Innovation and Commercialisation from 2010 to 2014, among other posts.

Having begun her career in 1996, Professor Yusniza has worked at various local and foreign higher education institutions, including serving as a Teaching Associate at Cardiff Business School, UK, from 2003 to 2006. She teaches a wide array of Marketing subjects, such as Marketing Management, Retailing, Branding, Product Development & Innovation, Digital Marketing, Global Marketing, and Marketing Research Methodology, to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Professor Yusniza has supervised and mentored over 50 masterʼs degree graduates and produced a number of Ph.D. graduates. She has made significant contributions to the field of marketing through her numerous publications, books, book chapters, monographs, and course modules. Local higher education institutions have widely adopted her publications, including her books Principles of Marketing, Marketing Management, and Marketing for Hospitality and Tourism, which Oxford University Press published.

Her primary research interests include digital marketing, tourism marketing, branding, and retailing. She is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), UK, and a member of the American Marketing Association, the British Academy of Management (BAM), and the Academy of Marketing (AM). She serves on the scientific committees of various prestigious international conferences and contributes as a reviewer for numerous international and local textbooks, journals, and conference papers.

Professor Yusnizaʼs contributions to academia have not gone unnoticed, as she has received numerous awards and accolades locally and internationally. In 2017, she was awarded the Excellence Service Service Medal (Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang) by the Ministry of Higher Education and the Excellence Service Award from the University of Malaya in 2016, 2017, and 2020. Western Michigan University also awarded her the Visiting Scholar Collaborative Contributions Award, U.S., in 2015 and the Education Leadership Award at the 4th Asiaʼs Best B-School Awards in 2013.

In addition, Professor Yusniza serves as an appointed panel member for the Ministry of Higher Education for Government Grants (FRGS, PRGS, HiCOE), an internal auditor for Malaysia Research Assessment (MyRA), and a member of Malaysia Top Business School Malaysia (MyTBS). She is also an external program assessor/advisory board of several private and public institutions, including UKM, UiTM, Multimedia University, Universiti Technology Petronas, Lim Kok Wing University, Taylors University, Sunway University, UOW Malaysia KDU, QUEST International University, Segi University, Wawasan University, and others.

Dr. Anna Azriati Che Azmi
Dr. Anna Azriati Che Azmi is an Associate Professor at the Department of Accountancy, Faculty of Business Accountancy, University of Malaya. She obtained her Bachelor Degree in Accounting from Universiti Utara Malaysia. She completed her Master and Ph.D. from Reading University, United Kingdom. She has experience teaching taxation and financial reporting to business students at the undergraduate and postgraduate level for more than 20 years. Her area of interest are information technology and taxation, Shariah and ethical issues related to financial reporting, carbon credits.
