About the Authors

Alvin Kwan Tzen Yet
Alvin Kwan Tzen Yet is an Executive Director at a licensed boutique fund management and financial planning firm. He is a licensed fund manager and financial planner with over 15 years of industry experience in the financial industry, specifically in fund management, unit trust advisory and analysis, financial planning, financial education in higher learning, private banking, and dealings in equities and derivatives.

Alvin acquired his Master of Financial Planning from Curtin University, Western Australia, specialising in Australian superannuation, risk management, investments and financial derivatives. He is a member of the Board of Governors for the Financial Planning Association of Malaysia, contributing to the financial planning industry in Malaysia.

He was an academic lecturer in private universities, teaching in areas of investment management, derivatives, and financial markets to undergraduate accounting and finance students.
Caroline Yap Yu Li
Caroline Yap Yu Li holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and a Master of Education. She is also a member of CPA Australia and a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (UK). Caroline is a dedicated academic and a highly skilled educator known for effectively handling large classes. She has 17 years of teaching experience in undergraduate studies. In recognition of her teaching excellence, she received the prestigious Sunway University Academic Excellence Teaching Award in 2019.

From 2021 to 2022, Caroline was seconded to the Academic Enhancement Division (now the Centre of Academic Development) as an Educational Developer. During this period, Caroline co-developed instructional teaching materials for the University Teaching and Learning shared platform and conducted professional development trainings such as the use of LMS and online proctoring tools for Sunway University academic staff.

Upon returning to Sunway Business School, Caroline became Director of Undergraduate Studies in 2023. In this capacity, she coordinated the programme refresh for all 11 programmes in the school, collaborating with various internal stakeholders to ensure timely completion.

At present, in addition to administrative responsibilities within the department, Caroline continues to teach and facilitate professional development courses for academics across the university.
Choo Sook Yin
Choo Sook Yin is an accountant by profession. She is a fellow (FICAEW) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). To-date. she has a Masters in International Business (MBA) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and is pursuing her doctorate in Accounting with Sunway University. In the field of education, Sook Yin gained her Fellowship in Higher Education Academy (FHEA, UK) and Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practise, International (iCAP) from Lancaster University, since joining Sunway University as an academic.

Having spent her career initially in the accounting profession with KPMG in the UK and PwC in Malaysia followed by years in senior management with British Gas (Oil & Gas Upstream) and the consulting firm of McKinsey and Company, Sook Yin brings technical as well as invaluable corporate experience in her role as a teacher for the next generation. Her hope is that her students will add value and contribute to form a just society as they strive forward to success when they leave Sunway University.
Evelyn Wong Mei Ling
Evelyn Wong Mei Ling is a member of the CPA Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Business and Commerce from Monash University, a Master of Finance from RMIT University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (International) from Lancaster University. She has almost 20 years of teaching experience. Prior to her academic career, she has worked with one of the “Big-4” in audit and assurance services. Her research interests are in accounting education, assessment and technology in teaching and learning.
Foo Yin Fah
Foo Yin Fah trained as a professional accountant and hold membership of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and CPA Australia. He has a Master of Finance degree from RMIT University and a PhD in Accounting from Victoria University of Australia. His core area of expertise is in accounting, in particular financial reporting and management accounting, auditing and corporate governance. He is also passionate about leadership, social innovation and social entrepreneurship. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of Nottingham in Ningbo, China.
Ho Wai Kee
Ho Wai Kee is a Fellow (FCCA) with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). She holds both a master's degree and a PhD. Additionally, she is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA, UK). With 10 years of industry experience and 20 years of teaching experience, she has had the privilege of working with a wide range of professionals and students. Her research interest lies in corporate governance and sustainability reporting, areas where she continues to contribute through her academic work.
Jaspal Singh
Jaspal Singh has a Ph.D. and has over 20 years of teaching experience in accounting. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA, UK) and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in International Academic Practice (iCAP) from Lancaster University. He has worked in both a multinational corporation and the public sector. His research includes publications on ethics, governance, and technology adoption.
Ng Shir Li
Ng Shir Li, who holds a PhD in Accounting from RMIT University in Australia, has over 20 years of diverse experience across accounting firms and academic institutions in Malaysia and Australia. She also earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance from the University of Melbourne. Her unwavering dedication to education and excellence in teaching has earned her two teaching awards. Her scholarly contributions include publications in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and newspaper articles, with a particular focus on international financial reporting standards, corporate governance, and sustainability reporting.
Nor Irdawati Mahyuddin
Nor Irdawati Mahyuddin holds a PhD in Accounting and is a Chartered Accountant (Malaysia) as well as a Fellow of Advance HE (UK). With over 15 years of teaching experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge to her students. Prior to joining academia, she gained valuable industry experience in auditing, taxation, and banking. Her research interests are centred on corporate governance and financial reporting. Currently, Irdawati is a faculty member at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia.
Peter Pang Looi Fai
Peter Pang Looi Fai holds a Phd in Economics, Masters in Finance and Bachelor in Accounting and Finance. He has over 30 years in experience in academia and prior to that held industrial positions in areas of audit and accounting. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and has published articles in journals and book chapters in economics and accounting.
Tan Seng Lee
Tan Seng Lee is a Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Accountant (Malaysia) with over 40 years of professional experience in auditing, accounting, banking, finance and academia. For the past twelve years, he has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the areas of auditing, accounting, finance and sustainability. His previous work experience includes being an auditor in a ‘Big 4’ accounting firm, head of finance and treasury in a financial institution, chief financial officer of a leading automotive group and executive director – finance in a water infrastructure and services group. He has led projects in corporate restructuring, fund raising, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and credit recovery.
Vivi Norazlina Mohd Sidik
Vivi Norazlina Mohd Sidik is an educator with over 20 years of teaching experience in the field of Accounting. She holds a Master’s degree in Accounting as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in the same discipline. Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to teach a diverse range of students, both those specializing in Accounting and those from other disciplines. She considers it one of her greatest achievements to successfully impart accounting knowledge to non-accounting students, helping them grasp concepts that are often perceived as daunting.
Wong Wing Tien
Wong Wing Tien qualified as a Certified Public Accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Public Accountants (MICPA) and is registered as a Chartered Accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He also holds a degree in Master of Business Administration from Victoria University, Australia. He has extensive working experience in the industry, having started and worked for over 10 years in two of the “Big-4” in audit and assurance services, before joining a public listed company to head the accounting and finance team. He has many years of working in diverse industries in senior management role before embarking on a teaching career in a university. His area of interest includes external auditing, financial accounting, taxation, and corporate governance.
Yasmin Yashodha
Yasmin Yashodha obtained her MSc in Money, Banking and Finance from Lancaster University and PhD in Natural Resource Development Policy (Environmental Economics) from Universiti Putra Malaysia. She is a GHG Practitioner certified under the British Standards Institution (BSI), an HRDC-certified trainer and project leader for an agriculture company that focused on agricultural transformation programmes in Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria and Tanzania, and the Sustainable Reforestation Programme in Sabah.

She has over 21 years of working experience specialising in human capital development, sustainable and innovative strategy implementation, taxation and capital market and investor relations. She has worked in the Big-4, capital market regulator, and established universities. Over the years, Yasmin has been instrumental in leading ESG and sustainability-driven projects, curating modules in education, human capital development, sustainable finance, stakeholder engagement and environmental economics. Her focus expertise includes data analytics, ESG advocacy, sustainability initiatives, strategic management, financial modelling, and research in environmental and energy economics, and policy development in financial markets.
